Presidents Report for 2004

To all Bacchus members,

It has been a pleasure to serve as President for the last 12 months and treasurer for the previous 3 years. I will not be accepting any nominations for Bacchus for 2005 due to family pressures, but will continuing as an active member

I am very please with the health and well being of Bacchus Food and Wine Appreciation Society.

We have 16 paid up members including 4 new member’s, unfortunately 2 founding members have not attended events this year.

Our cellar would be the envy of any Club – with over $5000 of high quality wines

Events have been well attended throughout the year. The Icon wine night was a definite highlight, the wine course was an outstanding success, together with regular events, (Armadale cellars and mid winter solstice), have made for a great year. Looking forward to both the November dinner and the Christmas function.

I would like to thank the out going committee for all there efforts this year. Each of you has played out important roles in Bacchus’s success this year.

Good luck to the incoming committee for 2005

Cheers

Rob Sharp
2004 President

Wine Masters Report for 2004

To all Bacchus members,

What a great year it has been for wine drinking and buying.

No doubt the highlight was the icon wines consumed under the expert tutorage of our newest member David (DC). This night was the stunning conclusion to a wonderful 4 night series of wine appreciation during which time we drank and compared not only Australia’s finest wines but also our finest regions, our finest years and our favourite varieties. Again thank to DC for his time and effort in putting this together for us. For those who missed it these are just some of the wines tasted during those 4 weeks…

Henchske Hill of Grace 1984, Yarra Yering Dry Red No.1 1990, Wynns Black Label 1982, 91, 96, Waterwheel shiraz 1999, Mount Mary Quintet 1991 and many many others.

Unfortunately there was none left of these to go into the Cellar, however our Cellar number has defiantly increased this year. Following a variety of functions and special offers we have added:

Lengs and Cooter Reserve Shiraz 2001 – 12
Scotchmans Hill Chardonnay 2003 – 6
Scotchmans Hill Riesling 2003 – 6
Jameson's run premium 2000 – 6

And add this to the cellar we already have and we have a total of 205 bottles of wine with an approximate worth of $5,104.00

This all looks great for a fantastic drinking future.

Cheers
